American Flamingo - Feathers like Flame

American Flamingo (Phoenicopterus ruber)
The word "flamingo" comes from the Spanish and Latin word "flamenco," meaning flame, referring to the fiery-colored feathers.
The pink, orange, or red feathers are caused by carotene in their food, especially shrimp.
Not surprisingly, there are more plastic flamingos in America than there are real ones.
